Have you ever had to learn to just have to feed some people with a long-handled spoon? I use to be that girl who always had to get down to the root of someone's anger or frustrations with me. I didn't care too much for how people felt towards me especially if they were family or someone that I considered a close friend.

I was a damn people pleaser at its finest, but not an ass kisser. Don't get me mistaken. My happy go lucky mentality caused many people to try me in ways that are mind-boggling. I can say that I was always tested one way or the other by people who took me for a joke.

It took me until I was at least 23 years old to stand up for myself. I grew a damn backbone at 23 years old. A backbone that wasn't always there as much as I use to be over backward for people.

I had to learn that I can't please any and everybody just because I felt that it was right in my heart. Learning how to distance myself from people that meant me no good brought me a lot of peace.

Not everyone you related or so-called close too deserves for you to show interest in their well-being. You don't have to feel obligated to call or text anyone for the GP (general purpose.) When I realized that I was truly better off staying to myself and not constantly concerning myself with other people's issues then the better off I was. No one was fixing their mouth to tell me what I should be doing for them or how or how I should be living life.

I'm better now. My approach to conquering my battles in life or even with people are different. I pay no mind to those who feel the need to belittle me to boost their ego. I pay no mind to people who believe they have all the answers to solving issues in my life that they found fault with. I have learned to turn the other cheek with sophistication and ease. My peace of mind costs more than being upset and revengeful with anyone.

For it reads in Matthew chapter 5 verses 38 and 39: Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

You can read the meaning of the verse here. I just want to encourage someone today to know that you don't have to stoop to anyone's level to prove a point or to make a point valid. Remain true to yourself and do not seek validation from others to prove your worth.
