Praising God Through The Storm

I can raise my hand and say that I once was guilty of only praising God through the good times. I was bucked up praising God for allowing me to be able to have money in my pocket, food in my home, and allowing me ways to get my bills paid on time. I’m pretty sure that I am not the only one who is guilty for being praise worthy through the good times either. I had to keep going to God in prayer with strong faith that everything was going to be alright.

Overthinking can kill your faith. Procrastinating and worrying can kill your faith. I had to start placing a down payment on my upcoming blessings by praising God through the storm. Okay, my friend. I also took the time out of my day to put in the work towards my blessings that were on the brink. Common sense is not always common when it comes to many believers and their faith.

God can only work as much as He needs to and then some of that work is left up to the believer. It’s key to keep in mind that God’s character is never changing. His character does not and shall not change by the circumstances of and in our lives.

We must learn how to continue to humble ourselves before God. Prayer is the strongest weapon that someone can possess. Can you believe that in the bible in the book of 2 Chron.1-30 Jehoshaphat’s call to prayer was a humiliating thing for him to do? Imagine if you had been called in front of your nation to pray over them during a crisis like Jehoshaphat was. Would you have been able to do it without any fear? Just like he was nervous in the story it also would have been the human thing to panic.

If do recommend that yourself the opportunity to study and read the scripture. You will read about the Israelites and how they marched to face a massive enemy. The Israelites were bold in their faith and continued to march without having any clue what God was already accomplishing for them. As they marched they chanted, “Give thanks to the LORD, for his steadfast love endures forever” (verse 21). They repeatedly proclaimed that God’s love endures forever, His love endures forever, His love endures forever!

With that being stated if we go to God with our prayers with the greatness of our problems, we will shrink our faith with ease. However, if we choose to fill our prayers with the greatness of our God and how He has worked down through history, we’ll stimulate our faith tremendously.

How will you choose to praise God through your storms in life? Will praise be your weapon of choice or worry?
