Let me tell you what went down during our trip to the Audubon Zoo Lights! My husband and I wanted to take Eli back to the zoo before Christmas. We all love seeing holiday light displays. Eli has been captivated by the lights in display in our neighborhood. Plus, no matter the weather, we were determined to get out of the house as a family.
When we arrived, we were greeted well. We had our printed tickets scanned without any hassle and were asked if we would like to take our family pictures by a green-painted wooden wall. The green painted wooden wall acted as a green for the zoo’s holiday photos.
My husband wanted to take photos with one of the women who were in a light-up Flamingo costume. I took photos of Eli as he was mesmerized by everything around him. Of course, I enjoyed and took photos and videos too.
Being with my little family made my heart swell. Growing up, I never experienced being out for the holidays with my mama. I also never had a father figure in my life. Having Eli experience these moments with his father is priceless.
Being able to enjoy ourselves as a family means that I am breaking generational curses, growing, and savoring every year with grace. It’s an unexplainable feeling that rushes over your body when you experience moments that make you feel full. Last night, we didn’t have any food at the Zoo Lights. My spirit was full of cheer and gratitude.
I also knew that Eli was going to see Santa Claus for the first time in real life. Let’s just say that Eli didn’t want to be bothered with Santa holding him. We took family photos with Santa that came out nice! Chile, Santa told me that we need to pray. I received it, well, and I still felt like it came from a spiritual place.
So, next year we are sure to be heading back for sure! It will be another fun experience for us as a family. The rain and cold did not stop us from creating a great experience! I highly recommend going next year if you live close to New Orleans.
Merry Christmas from my family to yours!
