Come over here and take a seat. Yes, right here. I wanted to remind you that I am sure you understand we are in the digital age where everything is documented, shared, and dissected. It can feel like we are expected to explain ourselves facing every question.

Why did you leave that job? Why did you move? Why did you end that relationship or marriage? Why don’t you want kids? Why did you choose to have another child? Why did you change?

But here’s the truth:

Your reason why is not anyone’s business.

Not everyone deserves to know or seek to understand your life decisions. Not every choice needs a social media caption, a long-winded post, or an explanation wrapped with a bright red dazzling bow on a showcase floor.

Sometimes the boldest, healthiest thing you can do is choose yourself in silence.

It is best to move in a way that feels right for you without stopping to ask for approval or understanding from people who are not living your life. The truth is, they are not in your unique situation. They do not wake up to your responsibilities, your hustle, your battles, or your prayers. They see what you allow them to see, a headline, a moment, but they don’t know the whole story.

We live in a time where social media has made it seem like we owe people updates and hints for every chapter we enter. But the truth is, you don not owe anybody anything!  Nurture your peace, your growth, your authenticity.

Let me add some people are not asking because they care. They are asking because they are nosy and that is okay. They want to judge, gossip, or make assumptions. Do not give them that access. Protect your peace, because it matters.

You are allowed to:

  • Pivot without giving public announcements.
  • Outgrow places, people, or situations without constant hesitation.
  • Heal in the way you chose to.
  • Build a life you are proud of.
  • Evolve without defending who you used to be.

So, let’s wrap it up the next time you feel tempted to over-explain yourself, remember:

Your reason why is yours. Your choices are yours. Own your journey.

Move in silence. Move in your purpose. Have confidence that your decisions do not require a comment section or a press release.

You are not selfish about choosing yourself.
Exercises your boundaries.
You are not wrong for refusing to dumb yourself down for the comfort of others.

You are living your life this is an amazing blessing within itself.
