Listen, Halloween can keep ghosts, goblins, and creepy crawlers in night. At this big grown age, I know the real scares come with a due date. Maybe a warning light, a school message sent at 9:47 p.m., or a grocery receipt long enough to qualify as a novella.
That is why I am kicking off a new October blog series called Real-Life Horror Stories: Because Adulting Is Scarier Than Halloween. The reason is because sometimes real life is a horror story. Plus, to make sense of it sometimes all we can do is laugh, tell the truth, and keep it moving.
Every Tuesday and Friday in October, I will be sharing funny, honest stories. These will be about the everyday moments that make grown folks want to turn off the lights. They may want to lock the door and pretend they are not home. We are starting with Going Broke Is Scarier Than Halloween, followed by The First Car Payment: A Brand-New Horror Story and The Sunday Scaries Hit Different When You Work in Education.
If you have ever
checked your bank account with one eye closed, whispered “not today” when your
gas hit half a tank, or felt Monday creeping up on you before Sunday dinner was
even over, this series is for you.
As for me, I like my October with a little Southern flavor,
plenty of humor, and just enough real-life drama to keep things interesting.
Throughout the month, these blog posts will take on topics like the bills,
responsibilities, work stress, family surprises, and random emergencies waiting
in broad daylight. We are going to have plenty to read, laugh about, and side-eye
together all month long.
Now I want to hear from you, I know that my comment section
can be bone dry! 😂 However, what everyday situation scares you more than
Halloween? Drop it in the comments because your answer might inspire a future
post. If you do not want to miss a single grown folks scare, join my email list
so each new post can come straight to you. October is about to be funny,
honest, a little spooky, and very real. I hope you will be here for all of it.
