I thought that this would make an amazing topic, because lately I have been getting asked by customers at my current job as a bank teller, "You look so happy. Do you love your job as much as you are smiling?" I would answer. (Often, not trying to never be petty by saying something around the words like.) "I'm happy because life could be so much worse than not standing here today."

To be real, I am going to tell you today that if you are working a 9 to 5 you should not let it define you! You are so much more than that woman or man that just clocks on and works to keep your bills paid, to have children or child fed, gas in your car, or to even look like you are just working to keep your current life steady. Here are a few reasons why you should not let your current job define you!

1. Your current job is not and should not be your last resort.

Whether you have been working for the same company from any were from 2 weeks, 2 months, or even longer than 10 years your current job should not be your last resort. Do not allow your dreams to be pushed aside while you are steady trying to find your peace of mind or achieve your very own future goals within a new career, business, or company.

2. Know your worth and add the tax to it!

Often, many people complain about their current pay at their job, their responsibilities (that they don't feel like they are getting enough pay for), the feeling of being overworked, and even favoritism in the workplace. Understand that your self-worth will only be defined once you create your own definition for the term. Complaining about your current job situation can only drain you more mentally than anyone else. Make the change that you wish to see or just continue to roll with the punches at your current job.

3. You have dreams and you acknowledge your dreams.

Can you believe that there are people who have dreams and refuse to act on them because they are afraid of failure? They are people who live to help others achieve their dreams and place there's to the farthest part of their brain. These people become people-pleasers to the point that their own happiness and sanity suffers. By acknowledging and making moves that will lead you where you want to be is an amazing way to stay focused and motivated for better.

4. The more you know and learn the more you grow.

Take whatever you are learning or have learned at your job and use it to better yourself. If you work in retail, hospitality, customer service, or where ever you are at now use what you know to take your skillset to the next level. For example,:

I worked in fast food, retail, and customer service. I used a combination of all the three jobs that I had held for 17 years old to now be in the banking field. I build my resume around money handling, communication, and stellar customer service skills. You can find your strengths with 9 to 5's and make the most of it.

5. Dust Settles & You Shouldn't

You must never stop grinding to get every step closer to your dream. When you want better it will always be in your best interest to have and achieve better.
