Showing posts with label confidence

Losing yourself can happen slowly. Before you know it, you have given your energy to heartbreak, exhaustion, and responsibilities. One day you wake up and realize you’ve been surviving and not shining. However, there is no need to feel down and out. Your confidence isn’t gone. Your confidence is buried under the weight of everything you have carried.

This past weekend, my ex-husband did not come to pick up our kids on his court-appointed weekend. It was a no-call, no-show scenario. I just shook my head at the thought of him thinking he was hurting me. As we all know, yesterday was Father's Day, which can be quite emotional for many, especially children. However, I decided not to tell my kids it was Father's Day.

The notion of "men loving bitches" may seem contradictory or even controversial at first glance. However, beyond the surface-level interpretation, it's important to explore the reasons why some men are drawn to women who exhibit strength, assertiveness, and a certain level of independence.

I do not want to be her! That young woman that I used to be. I am determined to be better. I gave her grace, roses, and forgiveness. I treated her with respect. I gave her time to understand her purpose in this lifetime. I will admit there were times that I felt lost when she would question her willingness to move forward. I always knew that she was capable even when others looked and spoke down upon her.

in , , , by Linda B Hurd, January 04, 2021

We have welcomed in 2021 a year of yet again limitless opportunities to partake on. In about a week from now, we will be about halfway through the first month of the New Year. If you're like me, you may be wanting to put those procrastinating ways behind you and give in to your ambition to tackle the mountain of resolutions or goals ahead of you.

One may wonder what makes certain women stand out from the others. No one woman is the same, but they can relate and connect on deep levels. It’s not always about the materialistic things, obtaining a certain amount of wealth or status that adds beauty to a woman. Happiness is priceless, and when a woman carries happiness within her spirit, it radiates on the outside!

“It can’t be!” I heard as I smelled a bag of russet potatoes with my back still turned.

“Omg, Linda. I’m a subscriber of yours.” The unfamiliar voice said as I turned around to face her.

Whatever time you woke up and had started your day, that was reason one. The second reason why you have the potential to win is that you still have a pulse. You do not need others' validation to do what you believe is your calling or even purpose in this lifetime. We also can not cash or deposit the opinions of others into our life’s savings.

At the beginning of 2020, I started overeating shortly after my 27th birthday in late January. I started giving in to many of my cravings and over-snacking while studying for my college classes. The more I gave in, the more noticeable my energy levels decreased, my breathing was heavy, and so was my menstrual cycle. What made me want to lose weight was my urge and burning desire to feel better.

All my life I knew that had to be prepared unknown. Growing up in poverty as a child makes you efficient in many areas of your life. As an adult, I shop for my family and myself in bulk. When I was an adolescent my mother raised me my younger sister and brother on a set income. We saw money come on third of every month from social security and food stamps.

You already have what it takes to leave a strong and positive impression on people that you meet for a lifetime. We all know someone that we use to go to school with, dated, or even worked with that had a lasting impression on our views of them.

Have you ever purchased a new journal or notebook and get so excited about writing in it? But wait, you get home and just do not know what to write in your journal. You think and try not to overthink as you stare at the blank pages wondering what you will write. Trust me, I have been there before as a writer and avid journal purchaser.

What would you do if you knew that you would not fail? Better yet, what would you do if you knew you would learn a great deal from it, from failing? I understand that failing forward sounds weird to some of y’all; however, it has helped countless people to thrive.

Girl, Lizzo has been showing her ass as of lately literally. Many people are here for her free spirit cheek showing antics. Let me tell you how that I have learned more than just a few things from her that I want to share with y’all. Let’s get into it, shall we?

One may not always know a strong woman when they see her. Her presence demands attention. She does not allow for any situation to keep her from moving forward. She may get weak, yet her faith is strong. She knows her worth.

My mother will never have an opportunity to read this unless I read it to her.

Going to any book store or library is sentimental for me. Growing up as a child, my mother always used to tell me to look at the pictures in books.

This past Saturday I had an amazing facial courtesy of and by Queendom Aesthetics owner and license esthetician Melissa Odum-Williams. She is a beautiful black woman with a passion for educating and uplifting people that runs deeper than just skin.

Ladies, we all have ways we prepare ourselves for that monthly visit from Auntie Flo! I know I sure do. Whether I am throwing extra pads or pain meds in my purse I’m always tracking my period, so she doesn’t just surprise me unexpectedly. I’m that girl who tracks her cycle and takes extra precautions around that time of the month.

I never try to make people underestimate me. I just always find myself underestimated by people who compare me to others. It has happened on every job I ever held down in the last 8 years old and even now with working with brands. It’s funny to me in a way, because I always seem to have the last laugh in the end.
If you did not get an opportunity to read my previous blog post just click here. This past weekend was Essence Fest and I had the opportunity to work as a YouTube brand ambassador for two events. I worked for both events on Saturday.
