We all have possibly felt the urge while shopping to treat ourselves to a little something nice. I know I have and can honestly say it with a grin. But when does treating yourself to something nice conflicts with your current financial situation? Believe it or not, there are people who will charge their credit card to the max or even their debit card to just feel and look like they are living a life of financial comfort, but are suffering to make rent or mortgage on a monthly basis.

Where I am from we call what you just read, trying to keep up with the Joneses. I have learned that it's best to stretch what you have and stack your money until your able to make your next move. Everything materialistic that other people have isn't any of my business. I have never been the materialistic type. Or the type of girl to spend money that I know I have on things that will bring me a temporary fulfillment.

Trying to keep up with people who have the latest things to make yourself feel better stems from a deep underlining issue. I'm not any psychologist or someone that's judging what someone else chooses to do.

I believe that there are so many people who attempt to go above and beyond to prove a point to people who will still won't care to notice you. Then if those people end up noticing them they still possibly going to drag for them no matter the circumstances.

This holiday season don't go broke trying to buy gifts for family, friends, or coworkers. Christmas isn't about the gifts it's about the celebration of Jesus.

A prayer of deliverance from materialism

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come to you now thankful and filled with praise. I'm thankful for the life you have given me. Holy Spirit, please help me to not spend excessively, but to spend wisely. Help me to become more disciplined with my lifestyle. Allow me to be a good steward of the resources you have blessed me with. For I understand you are God and God alone. I thank you in advance for what you are getting ready to do in all areas of my life. Condition my mind to think better thoughts. Allow me to establish and maintain budgets successfully. Help others who need who are bonded with the materialistic thoughts and actions.
Help us to be content with what you have already blessed us with. Continue to help those who are financially troubled. Holy Spirit, reveal to me the way that you want for me to live. Release my mind from the thoughts of having materialistic idols. In your Heavenly name, I pray. Amen.
