A few years ago, I felt like I had to stand out in the natural hair community. I went to the extremes to not look like a cookie cutter image of the next natural. I bleached, colored, and basically fried my own hair to look different. I wanted to appeal to brands by looking different. I was stuck in a place of constantly comparing myself to other natural hair women that I admired at the time.

With Valentine’s Day just only a week away I have been getting emails about dropping more advice for single ladies, couples, and marriages. I have been replying to everyone letting them know that I am no way a relationship expert or have claimed to be one ‘just because I’m married.’  I will say that I am very open to giving advice to anyone who truly wants to receive it. When I say, “receive it”, I mean with open arms.

Have you ever heard of audio journaling? I sure did back in September of 2016. I was in search of another way to vent than using pen and paper and just talking to someone. I wanted to keep a record of how I truly was experiencing my deepest emotions. As a writer, I can protest to sometimes not being able to write out how I may feel.
