Showing posts with label personal growth

Down here in Louisiana, I have learned not to waste my breath trying to drag folks where they don’t wanna go. Here are a few things that I have learned in the month of January to carry me along the way for this year in no order.

Listen, let me talk to you straight. I’m talkin’ real southern, sugar cane stalk and all, because there is no shame in my timeline. I am not sugarcoating a thing.

Let me lay it out, just as handwashed clothes with Ivory soap were placed on a clothesline to dry on a warm summer’s day. For years, I carried this quiet pressured weight wondering if tying the knot at 20 meant I was falling behind. Never spoke about it out loud. I let the thought settle deep. Often it showed up every time I caught myself measuring my life against somebody else’s highlight reel.

I see you stopped by. It is good that you are here. See, I wanted to share something personal that’s been brewing for a while. Brewing like dark roast espresso beans on a slow-paced Sunday morning. A Sunday morning when it feels like all you have is peace in the light of the day. You know how sometimes a small online shift can spark real change? Well, after months of consideration, I finally decided to update my Instagram handle to reflect my maiden name.

Taking the time to look back and realize how much can change in a year can leave you speechless. At least that’s how I feel when you have been walking with God, protecting your peace, and finally choosing you!

What comes to your mind when you think of a desirable woman? Maybe it’s her looks. Maybe it’s her personality. Maybe it’s her aura. The dictionaries define “Desirable” as “worth having or wanting; pleasant, excellent or fine.” For both men and women, there are many things that can define a desirable woman. Let’s talk about five of the habits of a highly desirable woman.

Hey, there I am so glad you are here! Welcome or welcome back to my blog, She’s Found Strength. My name is Linda, and I talk about all things related to mental health, having a deeper relationship with God, and personal growth with a sprinkle of my very own life in the mix. I am an inspiring LCSW, and on my journey there, I help women become the best possible version of themselves. Today I want to talk about the mid-year reflection.

Sometimes in our lives, people may tell us that you're being "too emotional, too apprehensive and or too critical."

All my life I knew that had to be prepared unknown. Growing up in poverty as a child makes you efficient in many areas of your life. As an adult, I shop for my family and myself in bulk. When I was an adolescent my mother raised me my younger sister and brother on a set income. We saw money come on third of every month from social security and food stamps.

Girl, Lizzo has been showing her ass as of lately literally. Many people are here for her free spirit cheek showing antics. Let me tell you how that I have learned more than just a few things from her that I want to share with y’all. Let’s get into it, shall we?

Someone can sabotage themselves in many ways, including self-doubt, and consistent procrastination. Some may find it difficult to ditch these habits in order to grow into a healthy person with a mindset to match. There are a number of these habits that can be difficult for people to spot in themselves.

I am a black lymphie woman who considers herself blessed. It’s not every day any woman with lymphedema can openly admit to being able to fit into a pair of skinny jeans. Over the weekend, I pulled out one of my favorite pair of skinny jeans. I’m talking about skinny jeans that hug my curves just right. Skinny jeans that make my booty pop as if all I ever do is squats. Oh, and skinny jeans that I have had for over 5 years that I still can wear with confidence with lymphedema.

As a child, I always wanted to fly. The thought of being able to grow wings or even to be caught by an angel while falling in mid-air kept my imagination just as hungry as I use to physically be.

Sometimes we don’t take the necessary time to reflect on our growth. We use to tolerate so much from people, in the workplace, and within how we viewed ourselves. When you realize that you are much stronger than you use to be it feels refreshing.

Here are three subtle signs that you are much stronger than you use to be:

Has it been difficult for you to keep your focus on God lately? Creating excuses as to why you do not have a close relationship with God does not pull you closer to Him. Let me tell you that I am guilty of constantly finding a distraction. My distractions have pulled me away from God weekly. Some days I am filling myself with His word and others I’m straying away mentally with distractions.

In one year, my life changed for the better. Today is my son Eli Alan Hurd’s very first birthday. My husband and I are not throwing a huge birthday party or get-together. We are just having a small celebration within our apartment as of now.

A generational curse is a defilement that was passed down from one generation to another. They often have ties to genetic imperfections passed down from your parents. They are many life-changing effects that generational curses can have on one’s life.

Being a mother is rewarding. I have learned so much from my 10-month son Eli. Motherhood has given me more motivation, inspiration, and patience to thrive. I wanted to share with you 10 things that I have learned from my 10-month-old son.

I am a natural hair product reviewer and just a very positive black quality content creator on YouTube. I have been creating YouTube videos since 2009. My channel started off as an outlet for me to post my spoken word and raps while I was in high school.

I’m thankful for what I have because I know that I am bless. I'm very fortunate to still be alive and well. On the days that I may feel like my back is up against a wall, I still have faith that everything will eventually be alright. I'm talking about having that mustard seed faith that keeps me spiritually grounded.
