Ladies, we all have ways we prepare ourselves for that monthly visit from Auntie Flo! I know I sure do. Whether I am throwing extra pads or pain meds in my purse I’m always tracking my period, so she doesn’t just surprise me unexpectedly. I’m that girl who tracks her cycle and takes extra precautions around that time of the month.

I have been blogging on my personal for two and a half years. I made the transition from being a gossip blogger to a lifestyle/personal blogger in the spring of 2016. My gossip site covered everything black celebrity gossip and it was called Gossip in Da’ Gumbo. I was inspiring to become a gossip blogger at the time by Necole Kane, The Jasmine Brand, and Rhymes with Snitch. My personal life was in shambles. I had no friends and was suffering from depression weekly.

The ride back to my hometown to visit my mother took me on a whirlwind of emotions. I was excited, anxious, and emotional. It’s been 9 months since I have been in my mother’s presence. She hasn’t had the opportunity to see her first grandbaby either until today. As my husband drove and the closer we have gotten to Napoleonville I felt like I was making the right decision. It has been months of wanting to see my mother interact with her grandbaby.

My Nightmare Had A Message

This past Saturday night I woke up from having a nightmare at 4:30 am. My heart was beating rapidly. I was in tears and grief. I could not believe that I had a dream that my momma had died. My dream took place in my hometown of Napoloeonville, Louisiana. I was back at my childhood home sitting on the porch yelling at people with tears racing down my face. There were a few strangers, my husband was playing and son, my younger sister, and brother, auntie in the front yard.

I never try to make people underestimate me. I just always find myself underestimated by people who compare me to others. It has happened on every job I ever held down in the last 8 years old and even now with working with brands. It’s funny to me in a way, because I always seem to have the last laugh in the end.
If you did not get an opportunity to read my previous blog post just click here. This past weekend was Essence Fest and I had the opportunity to work as a YouTube brand ambassador for two events. I worked for both events on Saturday.

We are officially 7 months in 2018. Where has the time gone? When this year began I barely had money in my bank accounts, my husband and I were on tough times, and I was depressed. Throughout these past seven months, I have risen above my past struggles. I have learned so many valuable lessons.
